This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on ashware-electrical.co.uk, why we use them, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

This website is operated by Ashware Electrical Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14889301), whose registered office is 46 John Street, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 5HP. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels and scripts — can do much the same job. Throughout this policy we use “cookies” to mean all of these.

Cookies let a site remember things between pages and visits: whether you have already dismissed a banner, what your consent choices were, or how you moved through the site.

2. Your consent

When you first visit, you will see a consent banner. Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically, because the site cannot work without them and the law does not require consent for these. Everything else — statistics and marketing — is only set if you agree.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Manage consent” link at the bottom of any page. Withdrawing consent will not affect anything that happened before you withdrew it.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you do, parts of the site may not work as intended.

3. Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the website to function and for us to record your cookie choices. They are set without consent.

4. Statistics cookies

These help us understand how the site is used — which pages people read, how they arrived, where they leave. We use this to improve the site. They are only set with your consent.

5. Marketing cookies

Marketing cookies are used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertising, on this site or elsewhere. They are only set with your consent.

Google MapsThe map on our Contact page is embedded from Google. Loading it passes your IP address to Google and may set cookies on your device.Varies — set by Google
Google FontsSome typefaces used on this site are loaded from Google’s servers. Loading them passes your IP address to Google. Not stored on your device

6. Third-party content embedded in this website

Some parts of this site are provided by other companies. When these load, your IP address — and in some cases information you enter — is sent to that company. This happens whether or not a cookie is set, so we list them here in full.

Easy PV — solar estimate tool

The instant solar estimate tool on our homepage is provided by Easy PV and loaded from easy-pv.co.uk. If you use it, the property address you enter and the design choices you make are processed by Easy PV in order to generate your estimate. Your IP address is sent to Easy PV when the tool loads, even if you do not use it. The tool also uses a postcode lookup service to find your address.

TrustIndex — customer reviews

Our customer reviews are displayed using TrustIndex, which retrieves published reviews from Google. Loading the widget sends your IP address to TrustIndex.

Google Maps and Google Fonts

The map on our Contact page and some of the typefaces used across the site are loaded from Google, as described in section 5.

We do not control what these companies do with data once it reaches them. Each operates under its own privacy policy, and we recommend reading them if you are concerned.

7. What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use advertising networks or tracking pixels to follow you across other websites. We do not use cookies to build marketing profiles beyond what is described above.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed about how your data is used, to access the data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would ask you to raise it with us first so we have the chance to put it right.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes or as we add or remove services. Where changes are material, we will ask for your consent again. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
