Two very different kinds of property
Stafford splits fairly neatly into two, and the electrical work reflects it.
Older property in and around the town centre
Victorian and inter-war housing that has been added to over decades. Typical work is consumer unit replacement, full or partial rewires, and EICRs that turn up missing bonding, no RCD protection and old cable still in circuit. An Electrical Installation Condition Report tells you what actually needs doing rather than what someone assumes needs doing. Domestic EICRs from £220 + VAT.
Modern estates
The newer estates around Stafford are generally sound electrically, and the work is more often about adding to a good installation than repairing a poor one: EV chargers, garden and outbuilding power, additional circuits for home offices and garden rooms, and solar with battery storage.
EV charging and solar
Where a property has off-street parking and a reasonably modern consumer unit, an EV charger is usually a straightforward install. Solar and battery storage we quote after a survey, because the cost depends entirely on the roof, the orientation and what you want the system to do.

Consumer unit changes, showers and small repairs
A large part of what we do day to day is not big projects. Consumer unit replacements are probably our single most common job, and we carry out a steady stream of them across Cannock and the surrounding towns. Replacing an old fuse board with a modern unit with RCD or RCBO protection is usually the single biggest improvement you can make to an older installation.
We also cover reactive work and small repairs, including:
- Electric shower installation and replacement
- Shower pull cord switch repairs and replacement
- Consumer unit and fuse board replacement
- Sockets, switches and light fittings that have failed
- Tripping circuits and intermittent faults
- Extractor fans, outdoor lights and garden power
Pull cord switches and electric showers are two of the most common things to fail in a domestic property, and both are jobs where people are often told they need far more work than they actually do. If it is a switch, we will replace the switch.
