What information we collect
We collect information you give us directly when you enquire about work:
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Your address or postcode, and details about the property
- A description of the electrical, solar, battery storage or EV charging work you need
- Any photographs or documents you choose to send us
We also collect limited technical information automatically when you visit the website, including your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and how you arrived at the site. This is covered in more detail in our Cookie Policy.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are:
- To respond to your enquiry, arrange a survey and provide a quotation — our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To carry out and certify work — performance of our contract with you, and compliance with our legal obligations under BS 7671 and the schemes we are registered with.
- To notify installations to our competent person scheme and issue certificates — legal obligation.
- To keep records for accounting and tax — legal obligation.
- To understand how the website is used — consent, given through the cookie banner.
- To send marketing where you have asked for it — consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information to anyone. We share it only where we need to:
- Our enquiry and job management system, which handles the form on this website and our job records
- Our competent person scheme and certification bodies, where a notification or certificate is required by law
- Subcontractors or engineers working on your job, limited to what they need to carry out the work
- Our accountant, and HMRC where required
- Website and IT providers who host and maintain this site
Where a provider is outside the UK, we take steps to ensure your information receives an equivalent level of protection.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become jobs: up to 12 months, then deleted.
Customers: for the duration of the work and for six years afterwards, to meet our accounting obligations and to be able to answer questions about work we have certified. Electrical installation certificates and associated records may be kept longer, as they relate to the safety of a property.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it transferred to someone else. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
Security
This website is served over an encrypted connection. We limit access to your information to those who need it to do their job. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us.
Children
This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
