Every home has different electrical requirements, so we take the time to understand the work needed before recommending a suitable solution.

Ashware Electrical Ltd provides domestic installations, repairs, maintenance, testing and upgrades. Whether you need an additional socket, an electrical fault investigated or a complete rewire, every job is carefully planned and completed with close attention to safety.

We work efficiently, keep disruption to a minimum and clearly explain the work being carried out from the initial assessment through to completion.

Rewiring

We carry out full and partial rewires to replace ageing or unsuitable wiring and provide a safe, reliable electrical system for your home.

Electrical Fault Finding

Tripping circuits, flickering lights, unusual smells and intermittent power can indicate an electrical fault. We identify the cause and recommend the appropriate repair.

EICRs and Electrical Testing

An Electrical Installation Condition Report assesses the safety and condition of your fixed wiring, consumer unit, sockets and circuits. Landlords in England are legally required to have one carried out at least every five years. Homeowners are generally advised every ten years, or sooner if the property changes hands. Domestic EICRs from £220 + VAT.

Consumer Unit Upgrades

We replace older fuse boards and consumer units with modern equipment designed to provide improved electrical protection.

Sockets, Switches and Lighting

We install and replace sockets, USB outlets, switches, indoor lighting, outdoor lighting and other electrical accessories throughout the home.

Electrical Repairs and Maintenance

We repair damaged fittings, faulty circuits, overheated sockets and other electrical problems, focusing on resolving the underlying issue.

EV Charger Installation

We install domestic EV charging points, including the initial electrical assessment, cable routing, installation, testing and commissioning.

Electric Showers and Pull Cords

We install and replace electric showers, and repair or replace the pull cord switches that operate them. Both are among the most common failures in a domestic property.

Kitchen and Bathroom Rewires

Rewiring for new kitchen and bathroom installations, including appliance circuits, extractor fans and lighting, wired in line with current zoning requirements.

Consumer unit and fuse board upgrades

Consumer unit replacement starts at £750 + VAT for a like-for-like change in a standard property where the existing installation is sound and the tails and earthing are serviceable.

What moves it above that is nearly always main bonding to gas and water being missing or undersized, perished meter tails, or existing faults such as borrowed neutrals that an old board tolerated and a new RCD-protected board will not. We tell you which of those apply before we start, not after.

A new board resolves a surprising number of common EICR failures in one visit, because missing RCD protection, inadequate bonding and an unsatisfactory enclosure are frequently all on the same report. Every replacement includes full testing of the existing circuits before and after, an Electrical Installation Certificate, a schedule of test results, Building Control notification and a properly labelled board.

More detail: signs you need a consumer unit upgrade and fuse board change costs and rules.

Whatever the job, if it’s in a domestic property it’s covered here — a full rewire, a fuse board change, fault finding, extra sockets and lighting, showers, kitchen and bathroom circuits, general repairs or anything else electrical in your home. You don’t need a different page or a different enquiry for each one; get in touch and we’ll quote whatever the job actually is.

House rewires

A full rewire is genuinely needed when the fixed wiring itself has reached the end of its life, typically rubber or lead-sheathed cable gone brittle, or where insulation resistance testing shows the cable failing across multiple circuits. That is a condition we can measure and show you, not a matter of opinion.

What does not need a full rewire: an old consumer unit on sound cable, a handful of C2 observations on an EICR, or simply not having enough sockets. We would rather do the smaller job properly and have you back in ten years than sell you a rewire you did not need.

Rewires are quoted per property after a survey. Access, whether the house is occupied, the circuit count and whether making good is in the price are what actually drive the figure. You get an Electrical Installation Certificate, full test results and Building Control notification on completion.
