Lichfield homes, and the electrics that come with them
Lichfield’s housing varies a lot from one side of the city to the other, and the electrical work it needs varies with it.
The historic centre. Around the Cathedral Close, Dam Street, Bore Street and the older streets off the market square you’ll find Georgian and Victorian houses, many of them listed or in a conservation area. Electrical work here is about planning first: finding cable routes that don’t mean chasing out original plaster or lifting old floorboards unnecessarily, and checking with Lichfield District Council if consent is needed before anything is touched.
Older semis and terraces. Closer to the centre there are plenty of early and mid-20th-century homes that have been extended, re-roomed and partly rewired over the years.
